چکیده
Abstract. We deployed an extractive electrospray ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer (EESI-MS) for airborne measurements of biomass burning aerosol during the Fire Influence on Regional to Global Environments and Air Quality (FIREX-AQ) study onboard NASA DC-8 research aircraft. Through optimization working solution, active control region pressure, precise capillary position, we achieved 1 Hz quantitative nitrocatechol levoglucosan concentrations up pressure altitudes 7 km. The EESI-MS response was calibrated each flight, with flight-to-flight calibration variability 60 % (1σ). Laboratory showed no size dependence in sensitivity below particle geometric diameters 400 nm, covering 82 accumulation-mode FIREX-AQ. also present a first in-field intercomparison chemical analysis online proton-transfer-reaction (CHARON PTR-MS) high-resolution Aerodyne (AMS). CHARON PTR-MS were well correlated, regression slope 0.94 (R2=0.77). AMS levoglucosan-equivalent greater difference, 1.36 (R2=0.96), likely indicating contribution other compounds measurement. total signal correlation (R2=0.9) organic measured by AMS, bulk standards.

Rapid analysis of aerosol drugs using nano extractive electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry.
Aerosol drugs dominate a significant share of pharmaceutical preparations on the market. A novel sensitive method utilizing nano extractive electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (nanoEESI-MS) has been developed for the rapid analysis of aerosol drug samples with quantitative information. Without any sample pretreatment, aerosol drugs were manually sprayed into the primary ion plume created ...
متن کاملThe effect of solvent on the analysis of secondary organic aerosol using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry.
This study examined the effect of solvent on the analysis of organic aerosol extracts using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) produced by ozonation of d-limonene, as well as several organic molecules with functional groups typical for OA constituents, were extracted in methanol, d3-methanol, acetonitrile, and d3-acetonitrile to investigate the e...
متن کاملAirborne measurements of the spatial distribution of aerosol chemical composition across Europe and evolution of the organic fraction
The spatial distribution of aerosol chemical composition and the evolution of the Organic Aerosol (OA) fraction is investigated based upon airborne measurements of aerosol chemical composition in the planetary boundary layer across Europe. Sub-micron aerosol chemical composition was measured using a compact Time-of-Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (cToF-AMS). A range of sampling conditions were...
متن کاملCharacterization of aerosol chemical composition with aerosol mass spectrometry in Central Europe: an overview
Real-time measurements of non-refractory submicron aerosols (NR-PM1) were conducted within the greater Alpine region (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and Liechtenstein) during several week-long field campaigns in 2002–2009. This region represents one of the most important economic and recreational spaces in Europe. A large variety of sites was covered including urban backgrounds, motorway...
